Cold
The world is cold, and dark with no heat
Leaving your heart frozen, almost dead with no beat
You feel frozen from the world’s chill, as if placed in ice
It is almost as if it does not exist, the word ‘nice’
Hurt, angst, callousness, and spite
They freeze your entire being, not matter how you fight
You tread through the bitter winds, but the freeze weighs you down
To your breath you are cold, even with the meekest sound
Collapsing to your knees, you clutch tight to your shoulder
And cry frozen tears, asking if it is over
A look into the darkness tells the answer is ‘nope’
You sense a sad end with no warmth and no hope
But then in the darkness, light shines, yet as a small speck
Suddenly you feel heat from your feet up to your neck
You rise to your feet and shiver as you stand
And reach out the light with an open hand
Although small, the light is warm, like that of a sun
You feel heat rise in more ways than one
The light now in hand and up to your face
Then one light shines, but in another place
From you heart, light bursts and soon takes form
Yet too it is small, but you feel twice as warm
With warm lights in hand, you see more in the dark
Aligned in a trail for you to embark
Now you proceed, unbound by the wind’s hold
You bask in the warmth, now no longer cold
